Date: January 23rd, 2335
Time: 09:45 EST
Hello Digital Journal! This is Rue, reporting for duty! This journal entry is more of a test than anything else, to make sure the Digital Journal System still works all the way out here. I was informed that there might be some strange forms of radiation that would mess with its transcribing features, but everything seems to be working just fine. Man, this is the first time I've ever used something like this... wicked.
Oh, anyway! Okay, so to recount, I woke up from Cryosleep around... a day ago. So weird to finally be awake again! My fingers are still all cold. Oh, sorry. Um... right! I woke up from Cryosleep, and it was just like the guys back home predicted. The ship's map indicates I'm nearing the edge of what should be the known universe. This is a bit scary, but exciting too!
I'm going to go check on the ship's systems to make sure everything is still up to par. Even this little radio clock here seems to be functioning well, though, so I think it's more a formality than anything at this point.
Anyways, I should go! See you in the next entry! Rue, logging off.

Functions of the Digital Journal System
<==
The Digital Journal System is a personal record keeping program. Created in 2296, the DJS was developed by the Worldwide Space Exploration Union, or WSEU, in order to give astronauts a record keeping option that left their hands free.
The main function of the DJS is an flawless audio to text transcribing feature. The DJS, when installed into a computer system with an external microphone, can perfectly detect human speech, and then transcribe it as text in the speaker's language. This allows the user to create a journal that they can 'write' in without the use of their hands.
The DJS features an 'Entry' system as well, where a user can create entries separate from each other, for a more traditional journal experience.
The DJS is also capable of manual entry, with no need for a voice. All the user needs to make use of this function is a device with the DJS installed and any sort of manual input accessory, such as a keyboard.
For more functions and opportunities for aquiring a DJS for personal use, please visit the WSEU website at https://wseu.gov/

Okay, so... I wasn't planning on making another entry before the next Psych Check In, but... well, I saw something a little strange.
So, the basic deal here is that... I'm nearing the edge of the universe, I think, and... how do I explain this?... It might be better to show you. Hold on, let me see if I can figure out how to imbed an image.
<img src="https://i.gyazo.com/79a666ebd7cddc0a21dd212fcc7b246d.png">
There we go. See that? The fact that anything at all can be seen is... suspect. See, I'm supposedly at the edge of the universe. That means no more stars, no more galaxies, no more nothing. There shouldn't be //anything// out here. And yet... something is visible. The strangest thing is that it isn't being picked up on any of the radiation sensors. Which means it's not any form of radiation, not even electromagnetic. But then I shouldn't be able to see anything. And yet, this glow is completely visible, even in this picture. Some sort of... halluciation, maybe?
I'm... not quite sure what this means. I wasn't briefed on what to do in a situation like this because... well, it wasn't supposed to happen. Unfortunately, the ship is locked on autopilot and, yes, while I could take manual control... where would I go? Besides, if I don't leave it on autopilot, then I have to recalculate my path back home, and that'll be... well, a bitch. Pardon my French.
Anyway, I don't really know what to make of this, but nothing on the ship is screaming at me, so I can only assume at this point that it's not harmful. Still... ugh. Rue, logging off.

I don't like this. That blue-ish glow has gotten more prominent, and it seems to be... I don't know, fragmenting? It's easier to show it...
<img src="https://i.gyazo.com/80b9ea5dc1e0dae5ebbe2aaedb05b862.png">
It almost looks like... you know those old, //old// TV sets that had snow when you couldn't access a channel? It looks kind of like that. Something's not right here...
At least, that's what I want to say. But who's to say what's //right// out here? This is the edge of the universe for god's sake, we don't know anything about this! As the first person here... it's my duty to see this through, right? But... well, it's... I'm kind of scared.
I can't back down now, though. Still, that... vortex, I guess I'll call it. It feels like it's watching me. Rue, logging off.

(color:#047B7B)[Okay... I think that fixed everything. Um, this is Rue. I'm still in one piece, I think. Uh... yes, okay.
So, I'm not sure what just happened. When I passed through it, a strange pulse went through the ship and made everything light up that weird blue color. Things seem fine now, though I'm still seeing that blue... might just be that the flash burned it into my eyes? I shouldn't be seeing light out here though, especially since, again, there's no electromagnetic radiation... I don't think it affected anything else, asides from my sight, though. I doubt it'll be permenant.
Aaaaaanyways... I think I've finally done it? Whatever that... //thing// was, it seemed to be perched on the edge of the universe. The ship's map... yup, that confirms it! Which means I've finally made it across the threshold! I'd be more excited if this wasn't so freaky. I'm going to go run a diagnostic on the ship. I need to see if anything else got affected by that pulse.]

(color:#047B7B)[Hello, Digital Journal. I'm taking a break from running a diagnostic on the ship, because... there's a lot of ship to check. I had to figure out where the floor plans for the ship were, so I could make sure I was checking anything. I just have a few more things to go over, and then I'll give a full diagnostic.
In the mean time... I think a psych check would probably be good. I think the psych guys would have a field day with //this//.
Anyways... I think I feel fine, sort of. I don't feel any worse than I did before the anomaly. I still feel kinda... lonely, I guess, but at least I've got something to do now. I'm going to check the ship out, make sure everything is fine, then I'll collect some readings from the area and then turn around. I know they wanted me to spend some time out here, but... that whole thing gave me a bad feeling. I've got a strange sense of unease in my stomach. I don't really have anything else to say, I don't think. So... Rue, sign-
Oh wait. I know this isn't exactly related to my psych check but... it's been a little while since the anomaly and... you know when you look at the sun for too long, and it leaves a bright spot in your vision for a while? It feels like that's been going on ever since the event.
Also, I'm making a note here to check the Digital Journal System itself once I'm done with everything else. For some reason, it skipped Entry Five. It seems like a really small thing, but it's really bothering me for some reason. Anyways, Rue, signing off.]

Is this... oh! There we go, okay.
Um, hello, Digital Journal System! This is Rue reporting in again! I've been reading over some of the notes left for me, and one from the psych team said I should talk about how I'm feeling. Seems a little bit weird, if you ask me, but they know what they're doing, I suppose.
Okay uh... to start... it's um...
...
...
I don't know what to talk about. I feel kind of bored, I guess. There isn't much to do out here besides wait. I know that this is supposed to be super big, and that I should be focusing my efforts on making sure the ship is running smoothly, but... there isn't that much to do. The thing was built pretty well, from what I know, and... like, I don't have to do much besides make hourly checks on a few of the more delicate systems.
I'm not sure what I'm supposed to be looking for. I wish I had somebody to talk to about this. I know people consider me to be some sort of 'prodigy' when it comes to astronaut stuff, but... did they really have to send me all by myself. Everybody makes mistakes, y'know? It'd be nice to fact check. Get a second opinion... not be alone.
*sigh*
I think that's enough talking, right? I'm gonna go take a nap. Rue, logging off.

(color:#047B7B)[Hello, Journal. Rue checking in. Just finished my examination of the ship. As far as I'm aware, the ship's more or less okay. I checked the engines, sensors, and navigational computers and everything seemed to be in working condition. The only thing that I found wrong was that the radio clock installed on the bridge is broken, so my sense of time is basically shot. Which... sucks, a little.
Well, whatever. Everything still has that blue tint, but besides that, (live: 5s)[(either: "something", "nothing")] appears to be wrong. I think I'll let everything rest for a little bit just to make sure nothing gets overtaxed. I'm still not sure what that anomaly did to the ship. I don't want to say it was nothing, but at the same time... I don't know if it's healthy for me to be thinking that there //is// something wrong. Am I just overthinking things? I really don't know.
One more thing. Ever since I passed through that anomaly, space has been a void. Nothing strange like the anomaly from as far as I can interpret, which seems good. Strangely, though, the ship's rear sensors aren't picking up anything like the anomaly. I know it was just that, an anomaly, but it's got me thinking. What's so different about the front of the ship that it sees something like that? An opening needs an exit, and if the opening //isn't// an exit, then where it it?...
Sorry, I'm thinking a little too hard at the moment. My mind is just working really fast. I almost wish I could see that anomaly again, just for things to be a bit more shaken up. Oh well, there's (live: 5s)[(either: "something", "nothing")] else here, so what's the point in speculating otherwise, right? This is Rue, signing off.]

I-Is this working?... God, okay...
Um... h-hello Journal. It's uh... it's Rue. Right now... right now I'm in a small compartment in the Engine Room. I... I figured... s-something out.
Whatever was... whatever th-that anomaly was... it um... 'infected' the ship, f-for lack of a better word. B-But not... not the whole ship. The bridge, my sleeping quarters, th-the kitchen, food... food storage. Everything in the first... um... t-two thirds of the ship. It makes... it makes everything seem blue and... and I think that... I think that the infection is... s-sentient. Or... or something.
It... it gets into things and m-makes them not percieve it. A-All while using them as... as a vessel, I guess. I-I think it works better on... on living things, a-as I can still use the uh... the Digital Journal while on a separate device. I'm h-hiding because... I don't know. The infection hasn't spread this far, but... I don't wanna... risk anything. The infection controls the bridge, and I think it's... it's gonna try and turn the ship around. Th-That's what I got from the last message, a-anyway.
There isn't m-much left for me to do but... try and destroy the ship, I think. I-I can't get onto the bridge without being controlled, a-and it doesn't seem like it can control things that are... outside of it, f-for lack of a better explanation.
Anyway... I have to go. I need to... I need to do something about this. I c-cant let it turn around. If it does, then... then it might make it to Earth. Or another planet with life. I need to... I need to make sure it doesn't spread. I need to... keep taking it, over the edge, away from the universe.
I-If anybody ever reads this journal... I'm sorry...

(color:#047B7B)[Hello Digital Journal System! Rue here! Wow, it's great to be talking to you again, huh?
Aaaaanyways, I think it's a good time to do another Psych Eval, huh? The guys back home are gonna be so excited to read all of this stuff, I bet! Haha, okay, let's get started then!
Gosh... I don't even know where to begin. There's so much I wanna talk about! Um... oh! Okay, let's start with the most important thing. So, remember that anomaly I passed through? I guess the ship's sensors were wrong! As far as I'm aware, what I was suffering from was similar to some sort of radiation sickness. Symptoms included fatigue, dizziness, and visual and auditory hallucinations! Don't worry, I'm fine now! Nothing a little rest and relaxation couldn't solve, right? Haha! Anyways, maybe I'll still have some of that weird radiation in me when I get home.
Speaking of coming home... I'm coming home! Yay! I got some really nice readings out here, and I think the boys back planetside would really love to see this kinda stuff! I can't wait to get home either! I'm so excited to see what's changed!
Oh, um... for the elephant in the room. Remember how the radiation sickness was the cause of some hallucinations? Well uh... I may have gone a bit bonkers, and done some damage to the engines while losing my mind... hah! My bad! Bit of a faux pas, huh? Well, don't worry about it, good ol' Rue got everything patched up and in working condition!
Huh. Didn't have that much to talk about, actually. I guess I'm just so excited to be back on Earth! And see all of my friends and family! Yes, definitely!
Okay then, I think this will be the last entry I make, because... I'm gonna go back into cryofreeze! No way a human could survive the ride back without dying of old age, haha. Don't worry, I'll bring a blanket with me! Haha! Okay then, bye bye Journal!
